The Ashland Library received 68 new children’s books with a grand total value of $1,061.53.   The Ashland Library and its patrons are grateful for the assistance of the Libra Foundation, the Catherine Klinger Memorial and the community members who helped make this wonderful addition to the library possible. 

 The Libra Foundation is a nationwide non-profit organization that donates new, quality children’s books to small, rural libraries through a 2-to-1 ratio matching funds grant.  Matching funds were donated by the Catherine Klinger Memorial Fund and community funds raised at the library book sale.

     On Friday, October 31, storytimers joined Khrista Branson at the Ashland Library to enjoy spooky good tales and crafts.  Storytimers also stopped to look over the new books from the Libra Foundation. 

 Theresa Peters Casper and Kayla Tonne

Theresa Peters Casper, author of  The Soldier Was A Boy and Kayla Tonne, Illustrator, personally autographed copies at a special book signing party at the Ashland Library.  Ms. Casper, Special Education Teacher at the Ashland Schools, lives in Oklahoma and is well known in the Clark County community.    Kayla Tonne, Senior at the Ashland High School, has received many awards for her art.    Books are available for purchase locally. 

 Reception Enjoyed! 

A come and go reception honoring the  anniversary of the Ashland Library Building was held on September 16, 2007.  Senator Ruth Teichman attended and honored the library with a Kansas Senate commendation for 25 years of service in the current location.
